Firefighter injured battling 2-alarm house fire in River Edge

One firefighter was injured while battling Sunday morning a two-alarm house fire in River Edge
The fire also prompted a response from the Bergen County Hazmat Team because of lithium-ion batteries inside the home, according to the River Edge Volunteer Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the 200 block of Taft Road around 9:40 a.m. and found heavy fire coming from the rear of a one-story ranch home.
Crews used two hose lines to knock down most of the fire while other firefighters searched the home, officials said. The fire was eventually raised to a second alarm, which brought additional firefighters from Oradell, New Milford, Hackensack and Paramus.
The Bergen County Hazmat Team was called because several lithium-ion batteries were found at the scene.
Officials said the team assisted with safely removing and handling the batteries.
The fire department did not say whether the batteries played a role in starting the fire.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and is expected to fully recover.
No other injuries were reported by officials and the cause of the fire was not immediately known as of Sunday afternoon.
