A Greenwood Lake man is facing multiple charges following an investigation into the alleged sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of a child, according to the Greenwood Lake Police Department.

Police say Matthew T. Morton, 42, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation conducted by the Greenwood Lake Police Department in conjunction with Orange County District Attorney investigators and the Orange County Child Abuse Task Force.

Morton is charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, use of a child in a sexual performance, third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to police, the alleged incidents occurred between April 20 and April 23 within the Village of Greenwood Lake.

Morton was arraigned in the Village of Greenwood Lake Justice Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail pending further court proceedings.

In a statement, Police Chief Adam Eirand said protecting children remains one of the department’s highest priorities. He also recognized Sgt. Jason Dwyer, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Assistant District Attorney Christine Maggiore, Orange County District Attorney investigators and the Orange County Child Abuse Task Force for their work on the investigation.
