A Vineland man has been charged with murder in the death of his father, whose body was found inside a Bridgeton home after police responded to a report of a foul odor, prosecutors said.
Bridgeton police were called at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday to a residence on the 0-100 block of Fayette Street, where officers found the body of Anthony Williams, 67, of Bridgeton, in a state of decomposition, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.
Investigators identified the victim's son, Anttoine W. Williams, 28, of Vineland, as a suspect. Prosecutors say he stabbed his father on or about July 15 and then tampered with evidence in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Williams is charged with purposeful murder, knowing murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence.
