An 18-month-old child was flown to the hospital after a near-drowning Tuesday morning in New Windsor.

According to the Town of New Windsor Police Department, officers and New Windsor EMS responded to a home on Red Maple Way around 9:45 a.m. for a reported drowning.

Police say the toddler fell into a swimming pool. When first responders arrived, the child had already been pulled from the water and was breathing.

An EMS source says CPR was performed before the child was flown to Westchester Medical Center. The source says the child is expected to be OK.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
