A Marine Corps veteran has an ambitious goal this summer – to walk across America.

Nick Beadles has been in New Jersey for the last few days in his effort to do just that.

Beadles is walking from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Oregon, to raise awareness for veterans’ mental health.

Disgusted by high suicide rates and trying to get the country to do more about it, Beadles is calling the effort “Nick’s Walk 26.”

He spent the night in the Manchester Township Fire Department this weekend and was overwhelmed by the response he's received there.

"The state of New Jersey has stepped up,” he said.

Beadle was walking on Route 37 Monday evening, heading to Lakehurst. You can follow his journey on Instagram HERE.
