The driver involved in a fatal head-on crash in Toms River that killed a mother of three was issued several summonses at the time of the collision, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials confirmed the March 7 crash remains under investigation by the office’s Vehicular Homicide Unit.

Authorities are waiting for toxicology results to determine whether criminal charges are warranted, the prosecutor said.

The crash occurred just after 11 p.m., when a Volkswagen Jetta struck a guardrail, lost control, and collided head-on with another vehicle driven by 37-year-old Shamirah Nolan.

Nolan, a mother of three, died as a result of the collision, according to authorities and her family.

Police previously said the driver of the Jetta appeared to show signs of impairment following the crash, and testing was conducted to determine whether drugs or alcohol were involved.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said victim-witness advocates have been in contact with Nolan’s immediate family to keep them informed on the status of the investigation.

Authorities have not released the identity of the other driver.
