A South Brunswick family was forced to leave their home Monday night after a new driver crashed a vehicle through the wall of his parents' home.

According to Deputy Police Chief James Ryan, the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. in the Monmouth Junction section of town. Ryan said the driver, a 17-year-old boy with a provisional driver's license, "accidentally drove his vehicle through his parents' home on Richard Road."

The vehicle went through the wall of the garage and punched through the side wall of the house. Ryan said the home was checked and due to the extent of the damage, the family was forced to leave until structural repairs can be made.

The teen who was driving the vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash.
