World War II veteran John Wardell received some overdue recognition in Ocean County.

Army Rangers visited Wardell in Point Pleasant, where he was given a Bronze Star, a combat infantry badge, and a Purple Heart.

Wardell was supposed to receive the medals 82 years ago, but due to lost records, the honor was delayed.

He is now 100 years old and is finally being recognized for his contributions to our country.
