Health officials confirm that a raccoon tested positive for rabies this week in Linden.

Authorities say the animal was spotted Tuesday near East Linden Avenue.

No additional cases have been reported, and this appears to be an isolated incident. However, officials urge the public to remain vigilant.

Any potential rabies cases should be reported to the Linden Board of Health at (908)-474-8409, or the police department during non-business hours.

Health officials say signs of rabies include abnormal aggression or tameness, staggering or paralysis, excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing and/or eating.
