Dozens of animals found in poor conditions in an Edison home are still under the care of a shelter.

As News 12 previously reported, dozens of chickens, rabbits, birds and dogs were found at the home on Stony Road West Sunday night after a medical call was made to the home.

The Edison Animal Shelter says 14 dogs and 20 rabbits are still being cared for by the shelter as of Wednesday. As for the 60 chickens, they are now at a private farm and will be going outside this weekend for the first time in their lives.

The front of the home where the dogs, rabbits, chickens, as well as pigeons, were found was lined with cages. There was also a large storage container in the driveway.

The fire chief says that there were also rats found in the home.

The home has since been condemned, the power turned off and the house now being vented.

Many of the dogs and bunnies are dealing with severe matting. Some of the females dogs will be available to be adopted as soon as Friday.
