A summertime staple in Monmouth County that honors the area’s rich clamming history is celebrating a major milestone.

The Highlands Clamfest took over Huddy Park and the surrounding streets for its 30th year.

The three-day festival featured tons of seafood, vendors and local musicians.

Carla Cefalo, the executive director with the Highlands Business Partnership, says the town operates one of the only two shellfish plants on the East Coast at the James T. White Shellfish Declaration Plant.

“That's how the original Clam Fest was started," she said.

Organizers say they are already looking forward to next year’s Clamfest.
