A historic landmark in Wall Township has been badly damaged, with more than $8,000 in vandalism reported at Camp Evans.

The damage includes 17 broken windows and a garage at the Officer Quarters of the former military site.

Police believe the vandalism happened sometime over the past five days.

Camp Evans was once a Marconi wireless telegraph station and later played a role in World War II and the Cold War.

The U.S. Signal Corps used the site for early radar and electronic warfare research, making it a key part of national defense history.

The property is owned by Wall Township.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wall Township police at 732-449-4500.
