Police: Man tries to kidnap teenage girl in North Bergen
Roberto Canavalan was charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.

A 35-year-old man is accused of trying to kidnap a teenage girl, according to police.
North Bergen police say Roberto Canavalan ran up to a 17-year-old girl on Bergenline Avenue on April 23 and dragged her down 79th Street.
Police say the teen struggled to get away. They say that three nurses and a man nearby heard the teen’s calls for help and pulled her way from Canavalan.
When police arrived, witnesses were able to point out Canavalan and he was taken into custody.
Canavalan was charged with kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.
