Prosecutors: Belgian man attempted to breach cockpit, assaulted crew on flight from Newark to Switzerland
Daeninck was arrested Oct. 21 and was charged with one count of interference with flight crew members and attendants by assault and intimidation, one count of assault and one count of abusive sexual contact on an airplane.

Prosecutors say a Belgian man attempted to breach a cockpit and assaulted the flight crew onboard a flight from Newark to Switzerland.
On March 31, 43-year-old Jan Daeninck was a passenger aboard a Swiss International Airlines flight from Newark to Zurich. According to a U.S. attorney news release, shortly after taking off, Daeninck walked up to a flight attendant, grabbed both of her breasts, shook her and began yelling at her.
Daeninck then attempted to enter the cockpit, repeatedly trying to beat down the door.
Prosecutors say while trying to gain entry, Daeninck assaulted a male flight attendant, striking him in the head and upper body. Flight crew members were able to restrain Daeninck for the rest of the flight.
As a result, the flight returned back to Newark.
Daeninck was arrested Oct. 21 and was charged with one count of interference with flight crew members and attendants by assault and intimidation, one count of assault and one count of abusive sexual contact on an airplane.
He appeared in Newark Federal Court and was released on a $100,000 unsecured bond.
