Jersey Shore vacationers make the best of a rainy week in New Jersey

Another round of flooding is possible in parts of New Jersey with the remnants of Tropical Storm Debbie expected to arrive Friday night after what has already been a waterlogged week.
Just as Point Pleasant Beach began to dry out from Tuesday's storms, Debby's remnants could bring an unwanted sequel. But vacationers are still making the best of things in Point Pleasant Beach.
“We had been in Manhattan for two days. We took New Jersey Transit but we had to stop because there was water on the tracks," said Linda Oatman-High, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Bad luck for vacationers, as the wettest week of summer hit in the prime of the season.
"We had a really good pool day. One day, a super good pool day. The last few days have been tough for sure," said Gabby Laesser, of Detroit, Michigan.
"This might be the worst week in 20-plus years for the number of rain days unfortunately," said James Ward, a realtor with Shore Point Vacations.

Ward lets renters know there are options like trip cancellation insurance to help plan for unexpected wet weeks, especially considering the frequent airport delays and cancellations.
"The average is 7% of the rent. What I tell my clients is you are saving taxes and if you came to us direct, you're not paying Vrbo fees or Airbnb fees, which are hundreds - even thousands [of dollars] - so for a fraction of what they are saving they can really protect their investment," Ward said.
These out-of-towners still found lots of dry choices - from the arcades - to restaurants - to the aquarium at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk.
"We stuck our feet in the sand. We are shopping. We're going out to eat. And we're just trying to enjoy between the raindrops," said Pam Bruno, vacationing from Connecticut.
Rainy weather is expected through Saturday morning in parts of New Jersey.
