Prosecutor: Perth Amboy man accused of killing 80-year-old grandmother

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has accused a Perth Amboy man of killing his 80-year-old grandmother.
The office says that Perth Amboy police officers were called to a home on State Street Sunday afternoon for reports of an unconscious woman found in her home. Awilda Verrette was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities announced Monday that they arrested 34-year-old Raymond Maldonado – Verrette’s grandson – and charged him with the crime.
It was not immediately made clear how Verrette died.
Maldonado was charged with first-degree murder, among other charges.
