Somerset County parents indicted in 2022 death of toddler

Almost two years after a toddler was found unresponsive, the parents are now facing several charges related to her death.
Hudson County prosecutors say Tracy Ruiz, 31, and Luis Larios, 35, both of Green Brook, were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault though neither are facing murder charges.
According to prosecutors, North Bergen police found the 2-year-old girl unresponsive at Dance Court on the bedroom floor inside of an apartment on July 2022. They say the toddler was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in critical condition where officials say she later died from traumatic injuries.
Prosecutors say three additional children who resided in the apartment were found in unsanitary conditions.
Ruiz and Larios are both awaiting trial.
