New Jersey elementary school principal charged with stealing over $700 from school

An elementary school principal was arrested and charged with theft after more than $700 went missing.
Colleen Schroeder, the principal at Helen L. Beeler Elementary School in Evesham, is accused of stealing money from the main office last month, according to Evesham police. They say the money that was stolen belonged to the Evesham Township School District.
Schroeder, 46, of Hainesport, was arrested Monday and received a summons. She awaits her first court appearance at Burlington County Superior Court.
According to police, school superintendent Justin Smith released a statement and said the board of education is aware that Schroeder was arrested and charged with theft and said she is currently on an unrelated leave.
“The district takes an accusation of theft seriously, and Ms. Schroder will remain on leave pending the adjudication of this matter,” Smith said in the statement.
