Officials warn of moose sighting near I-91 Exit 40

Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is cautioning motorists to remain vigilant after a moose was spotted Tuesday evening near Exit 40 on I-91 South.

Although Connecticut's moose population is relatively small, with just about 100 in the state, the DEEP emphasizes that they can pose a serious threat to public safety if they venture onto roadways.

Moose are significantly larger than deer, making reflective eye shine from headlights less common. Therefore, drivers are urged to exercise extra caution, particularly during the dusk and dawn hours. Here are some tips to help you avoid collisions with animals.
