Route 46 in Warren County expected to reopen Sunday after mudslide

A Warren County roadway is expected to reopen this weekend after being closed for two weeks following a mudslide.
Route 46 will be opening in both directions at 6 a.m. on July 30 in Knowlton and White Township. The highway has been closed since July 16 when heavy rain caused a mudslide, sending debris down into the area.

New Jersey Department of Transportation officials said that be the highway could reopen, repairs needed to be made to the berm to stop water from flowing down the mountain in the area and onto the roadway. Crews had to build a 1-mile road leading to the access point of the berm.
Crews also replaced a deteriorated pipe and removed more than 2,600 tons of debris from the area.
Gov. Phil Murphy has requested a FEMA Major Disaster Declaration for New Jersey due to the impact the storm had on Warren County.
