Responders are battling two major wildfires in southern New Jersey amid a dry spell in the region.

One of the fires is along Kettle Run Road in Evesham Township in Burlington County. Fire officials say it is 65% contained and spans 700 acres.

It started Friday night around 8 p.m. in a heavily forested area. The fire was over 20 acres in size when they first arrived on the scene and was being taken by a strong northwest wind. Officials say five homes were threatened.

Also Friday, crews responded to another wildfire along City Line Road in Browns Mills – about 35 minutes driving from the Evesham Township fire. Smoke and flames could be seen emerging from a significant portion of the tree line.

A video shared with News 12 New Jersey from Jersey Shore Fire Response shows how massive it is:

As of Saturday night, the City Line wildfire was 90% contained and spread over 850 acres.

No homes are threatened and there are no official road closures. Crews are asking the public to stay away from the perimeter area as they continue to work.

Both wildfires are expected to be 100% contained by Sunday.
