The smoke and unhealthy air quality will progress into Thursday, and one Edison business owner seems to be the person to go to for all the answers for people who want to reduce their exposure.

C&M Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Corporation owner Richard West told News 12 he’s been busy all day/night answering calls about air quality.

The No. 1 question West is receiving: Is it safe to turn on my air conditioning?

“Yes, it is,” he said. “But there are ways to make sure that you aren't letting the polluted air from outside come inside. If you have a filtration system, run the fan on your thermostat as well.”

West let his employees who were working outside on Wednesday go home early due to the poor air quality. He says they are available to change filters if customers need it, as most filters remove the particles.

“There's nothing we can't just run out and install in a moment’s notice, obviously,” West added. “But for the time being, just to have the house closed, run the fan to keep the air moving, so it’s not stagnant.

West also advises people to use an air purifier if necessary.
