A major water main break caused by an overnight construction crew has closed a section of Jersey Avenue near the train track overpass, prompting road closures and low water pressure for some residents.
A 20-inch water main was struck underneath the railway overpass, closing Jersey Avenue from 18th Street in Jersey City to Jackson Street in Hoboken. Crews are on the scene working to pump out accumulated water before installing a new valve.
While vehicular traffic is blocked from passing through, pedestrians and cyclists are still able to navigate the area.
News 12 has learned that some residents in Jersey City are experiencing low water pressure as a result of the break, while Hoboken has reported no water issues.
