At least 20 homes have been damaged after a multi-alarm fire broke out in a row of homes in Hamilton Township.
The fire first started just before 5 p.m. at 1744 East State St.
Hamilton Township Fire Chief Thomas Gribbin says the fire spread so quickly, the department ran out of fire personnel.
"We couldn't get them on scene fast enough," he says. "That's how fast [the fire] was running."
Firefighters from across Mercer, Burlington and Hunterdon counties came to assist with the fire.
Twenty homes were damaged, 15 of them very badly. Fire officials believe the first started near the roof of one of the houses.
No injuries were reported, but many residents will be without a home.
The American Red Cross is helping those families with nowhere else to go.
Fire officials are working to determine how the fire started.
