Two people were critically injured after being ejected from a boat that struck a channel marker in Barnegat Bay Monday.
According to New Jersey State Police, troopers responded to the location around 5:45 p.m. after a single vessel struck a day marker in the bay near Long Beach Island. Officers learned that two occupants were ejected from the boat as a result of the crash.
"Both ejected occupants were transported to an area hospital in critical condition," NJ State Police said in a statement. "The four other occupants on board the vessel were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries."
Police do not yet know what circumstances led to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
