Two people were arrested for trying to shoplift hundreds of dollars’ worth of Red Bull from a Target in Fairfield, according to police.
Authorities say 41-year-old Tracy Scafidi, of Dover, and 36-year-old Gary Savage, of Hopatcong, both filled their carts with cases of the energy drink and tried leaving the store without paying.
They say security at the store recognized the pair from previous shoplifting incidents and were monitoring the two.
Scafidi allegedly placed 12 cases of Red Bull energy drinks and several other miscellaneous items in her cart. Savage is alleged to have placed eight cases of the energy drinks in his cart. The total value of the items was $479.08.
Scafidi and Savage were both searched, and police say they discovered drug paraphernalia on them.
Both of them were charged with shoplifting, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. They will be held at Essex County Jail pending their first court appearance.
