Police are searching for a driver who left the scene after hitting an 81-year-old woman in Garfield.

The incident happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Outwater Lane and Midland Avenue.

Investigators say the suspect is a man with gray hair and a beard. They say he was driving a dark-colored Chevy Equinox that is likely to have front-end damage.

The woman he hit was taken to the hospital. There is no word on her condition.
