Raymond Cywinski is looking for new ways to rid Bergen County of an ongoing problem ? Canadian geese.

Cywinski, a Demarest councilman and president of the Northeast New Jersey Watershed Alliance, plans to hold a meeting in March for neighboring towns to gather and come up with ways to control the birds? population countywide.

Over a year ago, Demarest decided to bring in border collies to scare away the birds from town parks and ballfields, where up to 100 of them would flock.

Despite the plan?s success, the birds have just gone elsewhere. That?s why Cywinski is pushing for a larger, coordinated effort among towns. ?Only by a regional control basis are you going to get results because again it's just pushing the problem to someone else," he said.

He said experts will be on hand to talk about humane ways to get rid of the geese.
