WEEKEND STORM UPDATE:
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Fairfield County starting Sunday 6 a.m. to Monday 6 p.m.
Confidence has increased for a strong coastal storm that could bring 6-plus inches of wet, heavy snow to Southwestern Connecticut. Winds will pick up and cause blowing snow. Travel will become difficult late Sunday night into early Monday.
The forecast guidance has shown a slight shift westward, bringing the strong coastal storm a little closer to Western Connecticut early Monday morning as it swings by the tri-state area.
Winds can gust 30 to 35 mph and cause whiteout conditions into early Monday morning.
Moderate coastal flooding is likely during Monday morning's high tide.
FRIDAY NIGHT & SATURDAY'S WEATHER:
A winter weather advisory remains for Litchfield County until 7 a.m. Saturday for the possibility of a light wintry mix. Icy spots may develop as temperatures are going to fall below freezing tonight. Use caution when going out.
The sky will gradually clear late and temperatures will be close to freezing. Winds will lighten up.
Saturday will feature a partly sunny sky and warmer temperatures. Highs in the afternoon will rise into the mid-40s.
There is a chance to see a few sprinkles during the day and then some snow showers late into Sunday morning.
Temperatures on Sunday will be colder, with highs only in the lower to mid-30s. The winds will pick up significantly during the day on Sunday, out of the east 15 to 20 mph with gusts near 30 mph.
