The YMCA in Montclair reopened Monday for the first time since a mother was murdered in front of her child at a swim class.
Monica Paul, 31, was shot and killed while watching her son swim just over a week ago. Her 11-year-old daughter was at her side when she was murdered.
According to police, Paul was murdered by Kenneth Duckett, her estranged husband. Duckett is on the lam and being pursued by authorities.
A prayer service was held in the morning before workers were permitted back to work. Many who frequent the YMCA are still reeling from the violence at the community center.
"It was hard this morning, bringing my daughter over here," said Mary Emanuelli, before breaking down into tears.
