A lot of time spent in the sun increases your chances of skin cancer. Medical professionals say awareness is critical and early detection is key when it comes to fighting the disease.

"So today I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head. Yes that it is an actual little skin cancer guy that has started to grow," Jonas said.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Basal Cell Carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that "occurs most often on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun, such as your head and neck."
