Students from Memorial Middle School in Point Pleasant helped kick off the "Wreaths Across America" ceremony at the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial in Holmdel Wednesday.
The nonprofit organization presented symbolic wreaths to Gold Star Families who've lost loved ones in the military.
Bill Nemcik, a Navy veteran from Holmdel, says that he came to the event to honor those who served.
"If you forget them, you forget why we do this, what this is all about," he says.
Seven wreaths were also displayed to represent each branch of the military, along with POWs and veterans missing in action.
