(06/27/06) TRENTON ? It may be a little gross, but one Trenton company is finding success off the bi-product of worm digestion.
For lack of a better term, worm poop is helping Terracycle become a powerhouse in the plant food industry. The company takes the worm waste and brews it to create organic plant food. The food is then packaged in recycled soda bottles and shipped to retailers all over the United States.
Terracycle CEO Tom Szaky says the worms, and their waste, have helped his company become the largest organic plant food company by distribution in North America. Szaky says Terracycle is also working to strengthen the economy in local economy in Trenton. The company is located in the city, where Szaky says there?s a need for jobs.
