Work is now underway to restore heat for more than 150 senior citizens living at a Brick Township complex.

New Jersey Natural Gas and private contractors were back on-site at the Chambers Bridge Residence on Friday. A gas leak last week forced the heat to be shut down in the individual rooms. Some of the people who live there say temperatures inside dropped into the 40s on cold nights.

“It makes me, as well as everyone else, very happy because we see the movement now taking place after [News 12 New Jersey] did your story. There’s been a lot of movement here on the property,” says Chris Hudson, whose mother lives at the complex.

A spokesperson for the company that owns the complex told News 12 that the American Red Cross was contacted to help assist renters and management handed out extra blankets to those who needed them.
