A place that some New Jersey skateboarders call home is in danger of closing permanently.
Jody’s Spot in Woodbridge has become a refuge for skaters across the Garden State and has been a popular attraction for skaters out of state.
But the town wants to shut the park down because it is built over a pipeline.
Regulars at the park say that they have built a community there and that the park is more than a place to practice.
“It means everything to them. They love it, it’s like their world,” says pro skater Frederick Gall. “It keeps people off the streets. People come here every day.”
A Change.org petition to save the park has almost 4,000 signatures.
News 12 New Jersey has reached out to the mayor’s office about the park, but did not hear back.
