An Asbury Park woman is angry and scrambling to find a new home after being booted from a public housing complex due to her son's drug arrest.
Dante Brown, 21, was charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell in the public housing complex. The Asbury Park Housing Authority responded by evicting Brown and his mother, JoAnne, as part of its zero tolerance policy.
Authorities say the 21-year-old is a member of the Bloods.
JoAnne's friends and family don't know how she will afford the $840 per month rent she will now have to pay. JoAnne says her son no longer lives with her and the alleged crime happened outside of the apartment.
"It's not fair, and I'm quite angry about it," says JoAnne.
The Housing Authority maintains it had to act or it would have sent the wrong message to other tenants.
