A woman was badly burned Monday morning when a fire destroyed part of a condominium complex in Sea Bright.
Firefighters had to battle the bitter cold and Artic winds to put out the three-alarm fire. Fire officials say the fire struck Building B of The Foundation complex off Route 36. Heaters and medical supplies were provided at the scene for firefighters to melt away the ice on their uniforms. Fire officials say the cold weather also affected the hose lines, the pumps and the trucks.
The injured woman was airlifted to the burn center at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Meanwhile, approximately 30 units of the 60-unit complex were destroyed. The Red Cross determined about 10 families need temporary housing. Red Cross officials say the other displaced residents made living arrangements with family or friends.
