Police closed off a good portion of the 100 block of August Street in Irvington Sunday during an investigation.
Officials were tight-lipped about the investigation, but witnesses told News 12 New Jersey that they heard several gun shots and saw at least one person taken away by EMS.
Detectives focused their attention on a tan-colored BMW with the two front doors open. News 12 New Jersey also spotted several evidence markers surrounding the vehicle.
The alleged shooting took place across the street from a public park and Augusta Preschool Academy.
