The grading system consists of Brian giving each beach a point for things it has that most other beaches don't have. He’s grading them by beaches and other stuff -- zero to five in each category for a total best possible score of 10.
New Jersey's got 130 miles of great beaches, but there's a few things that set Long Beach Island apart.
Donohue ranked Long Beach Island's beaches as 4 out of a possible 5, and Long Beach Island's attractions a 3.5 out of a possible 5, to bring it to a total rating of 7.5. The rating puts Long Beach Island just under Wildwood and above Atlantic City.
