(06/30/06) WEST ORANGE ? Residents in West Orange are bursting with pride as one of their own gets ready to man the controls of Space Shuttle Discovery.
Mark Kelly, who grew up in West Orange, will fly into space with six other crew members Saturday. Kelly graduated from West Orange High School and served as a Naval commander during Desert Storm. He then went through the difficult and demanding process of becoming an astronaut.
West Orange residents say they couldn?t be prouder of the hometown product. However, that?s not all residents have to be proud about. Kelly?s twin brother, Scott, is also an astronaut. Residents say having two successful brothers from West Orange is a testament to the community.
