Unfortunately we've got nothing to celebrate with the weather. It is just gloomy out there, mainly cloudy skies. We're dealing with on again, off again showers. This is going to continue for the remainder of tonight, possibly getting steadier and stormier as we go through the overnight hours. Some model guidance is suggesting a decent surge of rain coming through just before daybreak. Temperatures are going to be in the mid to upper 50s, still very. Warm and humid outside, so that's going to stay with us tomorrow. Now temperatures are going to be below average, but the humidity is still going to be with us. The winds are off of the ocean. Temperatures are only going to be in the low middle 60s, almost 10 degrees cooler than average, but it just feels so soupy out there with some passing drizzly moments for tomorrow afternoon. I think the bulk of the rain. Happens very early in the morning and then it's mostly cloudy with just moments of drizzle out there. Now for Thursday, another round of rain, possible storms coming through for Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s, maybe a few neighborhoods, possibly getting to about 70. It's warmer even still on Friday. There's an opportunity maybe for temperatures to be in the 80s. If we see that, we would more than likely see a better chance for some afternoon thunderstorms come our way. On Friday, and the wet weather is going to take you right through Friday and into Saturday as well. So from now until Saturday, we're likely going to pick up between 1 to almost 2 inches of rain in our rain gauges. Doesn't seem like a lot in that stretch of time, and it really isn't. It's more of a nuisance dreary weather pattern, but this is great to absorb right into the grounds and really help alleviate the drought situation. So I do think that we put a huge dent in the drought going through this week. So we're dealing with some storm. Tomorrow morning then it's mostly cloudy on again, off again showers on Thursday, a temperature right around 73 degrees. We keep an eye on Friday and Saturday. There is a chance the temperatures here on the 10 day could be a little underdone. We could actually see temperatures make a run for the low to middle 80s, but if that were to happen, we would be looking at a better opportunity at seeing some showers and some thunderstorms developing periodically through the afternoon hours. As it stands, Friday afternoon would be the better chance to see that potentially happen. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, even going in the first part of Wednesday looking very nice under mainly sunny skies. I'll have more details on that forecast coming right up.

American Red Cross urges New Jersey residents to prep for hurricane season now

Well, as we know from years past, hurricanes are no stranger to New Jersey. The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season fast approaching, but some recent forecasting models suggest an early start to the season, which means now is the time to prepare for it. News2 New Jersey's Jill Croce has more on what you need to know. Atlantic hurricane season starts in less than a month, June 1st, so now is the time to prep. Meteorologists are predicting another active hurricane season. I feel like every season is another active hurricane season. We're seeing a lot of it not just in New Jersey but across the country. Um, so we just want everyone to really be prepared. That was Sherry Ferrero with the American Red Cross New Jersey region to make sure everyone is ready for whatever could spin our way, she says use National Hurricane Preparedness Week, happening through May 10th as a guide to make purchases and not scramble at the last minute. One thing she recommends is assembling a go kit in case of evacuation. The checklist could include food, water, medication, chargers for your devices, your devices, all your important documents that you don't want to lose to flooding. Make digital copies of them. When disaster strikes, the National Weather Service also recommends having a full gas tank, having cash on hand, and a radio with batteries. And don't forget nonperishable foods and battery powered items like flashlights. These things may sell out, so you want to stock up on those things before a storm hits. Apart from physical items, make the proper calls now before it's too late, we definitely recommend that people have insurance. Homeowners insurance, um, renters' insurance that that also will cover, you know, damage that comes from a severe storm like a hurricane. Don't get your hopes up about the annual May meteor shower known as the Ada Aquarids because it looks like the weather is not going to cooperate. The peak will occur Monday night and into Tuesday morning. That's May 5th into May 6th. And if we had a clear sky, you would want to go out late and look towards the east after midnight when the constellation Aquarius rises. That is the radiant point of the shower, but unfortunately. It looks like the weather is going to get in the way. We are looking at clouds and showers over the entire tri-state area all the way into next week. But anyway, here's what you would need to know. This is actually debris from Haley's comet. We all know about Haley's comet. This comet's been observed since 240 BC, and you would want to look late after midnight. Now you don't have to look directly at the constellation, but that's actually the radiant point where it appears that the radiant. That the meteors are gonna come from. This is known as a medium shower in the northern hemisphere. It is way better in the southern hemisphere. Our shower would be seen very low on the horizon, so we may miss the peak this time, but no worries. You could see a meteor or two through the end of the month, and fingers crossed, the weather will be nice for the full moon, the flower moon coming up on May 12th in the weather center.
