Members of the groups Hispanic Directors Association and Latino Leadership Alliance unveiled recommendations to help the immigration issues in the state in Hightstown Wednesday.
The groups say they chose Hightstown to unveil their suggestions because Mayor Bob Patten says he is proud of his town?s Latino influence.
?Nothing has been lost with the immigrants in our community, much has been gained,? Patten said.
The groups complied their recommendations at a two-day roundtable in March. Some include having the federal government pass reform that will help immigrants earn citizenship and allowing immigrants a driving privilege card to legally travel to and from work.
Other recommendations include suspending customs enforcement raids and educating immigrants about rip-off schemes from lawyers.
Patten says he fully supports the recommendations to improve the immigrant issue in New Jersey.
