Officials: 2 firefighters hospitalized; dog dies in Wayne house fire

Fire officials say firefighters searched for a dog that was reported still inside the house but was met with heavy fire conditions throughout the first and second floor.

A family’s dog died in a massive blaze that erupted over the weekend at a home in Wayne, according to fire officials.
Mayor Christopher Vergano shared photos showing the fire on Lenox Road. It took crews several hours Sunday night to put out the flames.
Vergano said the family was not home when the fire started.

Fire officials say firefighters searched for a dog that was still inside the house but were met with heavy fire conditions throughout the first and second floor.
Officials say two firefighters were hospitalized with injuries that are described as nonlife-threatening. One firefighter was released and is expected to be OK.
