Wayne homeowners evacuate as floodwaters enter homes, cars

Police officers drove into the neighborhood Wednesday, and they're now in the process of retrieving pets from houses.

Wayne remains under a state of emergency due to severe flooding.
Homes close to the Pompton River in Wayne have been surrounded by floodwater. The water has started to recede. At its lowest point, News 12 was told the water is about 8 feet deep.
News 12 New Jersey's Chris Keating visited Ryerson Avenue where floodwater has creeped into homes and cars in the neighborhood. The majority of these homeowners have already evacuated.

Police officers drove into the neighborhood Wednesday, and they're now in the process of retrieving pets from houses. The township is also monitoring the Passaic River.
Homeowners have been warned to evacuate so that they don't get stranded while waiting for the water to recede.
