New Jersey’s newest Wawa opened in Robbinsville on Thursday.
The grand opening was a double celebration as the company also honored the 40th work anniversary of its first supported employment association.
Ari Shiner paved the way for hundreds at Wawa. It is an achievement made possible by Eden Autism Services.
As a way of saying thank you, Wawa presented the nonprofit with a $100,000 grant to support its expansion of autism services in New Jersey.
"It's a wonderful program. It makes Wawa better. It makes our customers' days better. And the interaction and the love that's created with our associates, it's second to none,” says Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens.
There are about 750 employees in the supported employment program at Wawa. Eden supports 21 of those workers.
