A water main break has left an entire Sussex County town without water on Thanksgiving Day.
Newton police say that a 16-inch water main broke on Sparta Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Officials say that repairs are expected to take a while.
The town is attempting to switch to a backup water main.
Trucks with non-potable water will be available at the firehouse located on Mill Street and Lawnwood Avenue. Drinking water will be available at the firehouse at 22 Mill St. and the firehouse located at 56 Woodside Ave., as well as at the Andover Borough firehouse on Route 206.
Surrounding communities such as Sparta and Andover Township are also affected.
According to the 2010 census, Newton has just under 8,000 residents.
