A water main break in Somerset County has left some residents with little or no water pressure.
New Jersey American Water says the 36-inch water main broke along Route 206 between Orlando Drive and South Bridge Street along the Raritan and Somerville border.
“When water service is restored, customers may experience discolored water. If your water is discolored, run the cold water taps only, at the lowest level of the house for about 3 to 5 minutes until the water runs clear,” the company posted on its website.
Officials say that the break impacts Somerville, Raritan Township, Raritan Borough, Bridgewater, Branchburg and Readington residents. They say that it impacts around 30,000 customers in the county.
There is no estimated time frame for repairs, the company stated.
A boil water advisory is in effect for New Jersey American water customers in Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Raritan Borough and Somerville.
Officials say that they will make the repairs and then test the water. They say that the boil water advisory may last through the weekend.
New Jersey American Water is asking its customers to conserve water when possible.
