Some homeowners and businesses in Lyndhurst are without water after a 10-inch water main broke just after midnight Thursday.
Crews worked over night to reach the water main and assess the amount of damage. Meanwhile, valves have been turned off to prevent further water loss, leaving residents and businesses in the area without water on Thursday. The break occurred on Ridge Road between New Jersey Avenue and Valley Brook Avenue. The repair efforts are causing excessive traffic delays in the area. Due to the break, classes at Sacred Heart School were canceled.
An investigation into the cause of the water main break is underway. Although water pressure is expected to return soon, it may be some time before full service is back to normal in all homes and businesses.
