Some residents in one Bronx community have lost everything except the shirts on their backs. An apparent water main break on East 156th Street created icy and slippery streets in the area. Police say water started to fill the street around 5:30 a.m. They think the pipes burst due to old age combined with the freezing temperatures.Con Ed says the water has been shut off, and with the exception of one building on the street, all were without water. The Department of Environmental Protection arrived to fix the problem and was hoping to have the water turned back on by Tuesday night.
