Wake held for off-duty officer in Wayne

Family and friends are remembering the off-duty Pompton Lakes police officer who died after he hit a deer with his motorcycle.
Investigators say Sgt. Peter Kamper Jr. was traveling on Lakeside Avenue in Wayne after midnight Wednesday when the accident happened.
A wake for Kamper was held at the Moore's Home for Funerals in Wayne from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
A funeral service will be held at the same location Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
Kamper joined the Pompton Lakes Police Department in 2004. He was 40 years old.
